Tour our Birth Center

Considering care with us? Taking a Tour is the first step!

During a tour, you'll get to see the birth suites where you’ll spend your baby’s birthday as well as clinic rooms and common areas. We’ll share the safety precautions we take throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum recovery, and discuss financial questions regarding insurance or self-pay. Our tour and orientation will share:

  • Who we are able to care for

  • What midwife-led care looks like

  • What we expect from our clients to ensure they're prepared for their birth experience

  • What forms of payment and insurance we accept

  • Our commitment to safety, including our care plan if a birth needs to transfer to the hospital at any point

Due to Florida law, birth centers cannot support clients seeking a VBAC. We also cannot provide care for clients expecting multiples. Other risk factors can be discussed via email at info@laboroflovetampa.com or at the end of your tour.

  • Our team is committed to offering evidence-based care that seeks consent and participation in care decisions to best reach the goals of families welcoming their children in a safe environment rich in compassion. As a family moves through care with our center, there are regular prenatal appointments with transparent evaluations of health, expectations for continuing care, and informed consent.

  • On our tour, we share information about our standards of safety, our relationship with hospitals in the event of transfer, and show tools we keep in each birth suite should unplanned events happen at a birth.

  • The tour offers a walk through of the spaces used for prenatal care, birth suites, and areas available to support members during your laboring time.

  • Every client seeking care at Labor of Love will have a risk-assessment appointment to review medical records and current health.

    Items that would preclude someone from birth center care include, but are not limited to:

    • prior uterine surgery including previous cesarean birth

    • multiple gestations with this pregnancy

    • chronic health complications such as diabetes outside of pregnancy, hypertension, heart/kidney/lung/blood diseases, hyperthyroidism, near-psych disorders, seizure disorders, HIV+

    • Current, active substance or alcohol use during pregnancy

    • First time birth givers with BMI > 40 or multiparous birth givers with BMI >45

    • past and current health history, do be discussed at appointment after chart review

    • Clients must have their first appointment by 32 weeks of pregnancy to be eligible for care at the birth center.

    • Clients transferring into our care past 28 weeks of pregnancy who will be giving birth for the first time may be required to hire a doula.

    • Labor of Love cannot support clients seeking a VBAC or expecting multiples.
